One more question about DPM 2010, to verify if i understand the different backup types correctly. We use backup to disk, as well as backup to a tape library.
In general DPM creates a replica of all the protected servers. Synchronization of the replica's occur at configured interval up to 15 minutes.
Application backup - Creates an express backup to disk at 1 point during the day. This express backup is written to tape at a configured time. Can only be used for Exchange, Virtual Server, SQL and SharePoint.
File Backup - Is used to backup Files, Folders, Shares and Volumes. It is backed up to disk using recovery points. On a configured time during the day, the last recovery point is written to tape.
System State - A full backup of a servers Boot files, COM+ class registration database, the Registry and System Files classified under Windows File Protection. 1 Full backup to disk and from disk backed up to Tape once a day.
Bare Metal - Includes the System State and Volumes, without user data. 1 Full backup to disk and from disk backed up to Tape once a day.
Short-term - Can include all of the above backup methods. Backups written to disk, with a retention of max. 448 days.
Long-term - Can include all of the above backup methods. Backups written to tape, with a retention of max. 99 years.
Can someone please verify for me, if i understand this correctly?
