Apologies for what might be a stupid question, I am rather inexperienced with DPM and have not had any formal training with it.
We have a protection group which covers the DPM database (MSSQL2K5) on the same server as our DPM 2007 installation.
The protection group is set to backup the database to tape as "short-term" once per week on a Saturday with a retention period of two weeks.
If I view the management tab and look at the slots in the library, a considerable number of tapes are labelled up as DPM Database. Right now, the library contains 6 DPM database tapes (800GB capacity each). I would imagine there are more stored outside the library as well that would be rotated back in. This seems excessive for something which is only 22GB.
Can anyone advise as to why it behaves this way and whether it's intentional? Is it simply down to using old hardware/software?
