I am running version 2012 R2 RU11
I am currently running all three recovery goals Weekly, Monthly, and Yearly long term tape backups. I just completed my year end tape backups and I used the "Run backup only for the "Recovery goal 3". I scheduled the yearly to fall on the same day as my monthly. I did it this way so I don't have duplicate month end and year end tapes. I want to use my Year End tapes as December Month end if needed, but use the long term retention. NOte: Currently I create a duplicate copy of my Monthly and Yearly tapes, one onsite and one offsite).
I would like to the same with my Month End. In stead of running the weekly tape backup at the end of the Month I would like to run it as my Month End tape. Basically cutting the duplication of a backup set of tapes. I hope this makes sense.
I thought about going into the Customize Recovery Goal and unchecking the Recovery Goal 3 (Yearly) and then use the "Run backup only for the Recovery Goal 2", but I don't know what that will do for my existing Year End Backups. If it doesn't do anything to those existing backups, this might be the best way to manipulate the scheduling.
Any suggestions?
